New Year; New You

January 19th, 2011 § Leave a Comment

woooots.

Its been a reaaaaaallllllyyy long time since i’ve updated. Well, as some of you might have guessed, it’s becos of my dear new found baby, tumblr.

Its kinda like micro-blogging all over again, with all the facebook, twitters and what nots; Which, well, prevented me from having enough pent up “blog-diction” to blog.

Enough of excuses, i basically just decided to “neglect” this blog for a while.

Well, its kinda late to blog about my thanksgivings – but at least i did them at the end of 2010. It’s a long list of things to Thank God for, and i KNOW i can NEVER finish writing it here. So just a very very simple, but sincere way:

Thank YOU,
* My Friends, you know who u are. Thanks for being crazy, and tolerating my craziness. :D

* My CLOSEST Friends, you better know who you are. LOL. Thanks for being there for me! The funny thing is that, ALL of you in this group are people who i don’t have the luxury of meeting often, due to the busyness and randomness of life itself, and definitely distance too. BUT despite so, i know u’re there, and i really want to say that my 2010, and beyond, will never be the same without YOU. I sometimes think to myself that every single one of you are God’s personal angels sent to me. :)

* My Mom, for being my mom, and friend at the same time, i can proudly say. Even though there’s still the nasty stuff like quarrels and misunderstandings, i know u love me for who i am, and always wants the best for me too. Thanks Mom for being who u are too!

And definitely to God, Thank You for being there.

“What can i give,
that You have not given;
What do i have,
that is not already Yours.
All i possess is this life i’m living,
and that’s what i give to You LORD.”

Well, updates! the first few seconds of my new year was with the LEGENDARY NINE (EIGHT), cos Pete pangseh-ed. Was so retardedly spastic cos we counted down without counting down..

31 Dec 2010 23:30   All members of LEGENDARY EIGHT reaches

31 Dec 2010 23:50   Realizes that we forgot the candles used to light sparklers. Panic. Goes back to get it.

31 Dec 2010 23:53   Finally reaches a spot on Pasir Ris Park, with much fear of spending countdown in Cheers again, like last year.

31 Dec 2010 23:55   One of the members goes into a frenzy and starts spraying crazy ribbons. The rest followed suit. Then lit up sparklers in an attempt to fend off attackers.

31 Dec 2010 23:59   Still spraying ribbons, and randomly playing sparklers.

01 Jan 2011 00:00  Still spraying ribbons, and randomly playing sparklers.

01 Jan 2011 00:01   Still spraying ribbons, and randomly playing sparklers.

01 Jan 2011 00:02   Still spraying ribbons, and randomly playing sparklers.

01 Jan 2011 00:03   OH SHI– missed it. And all our ribbons and sparklers were used up.

01 Jan 2011 00:05   Still shocked over the fact that we missed New Year. AGAIN.

01 Jan 2011 00:10   Started to realize it was at least better than last year and started wishing one another happy new year randomly and retardedly. And went CRAZY.

01 Jan 2011 05:55   ALL DEAD.

HAHAHA. better luck next year.

I made quite a number of resolutions this year, including a completion of a thesis. Hope they all wont fail like the one that did in 2010 – to sleep earlier than 2330 at least 4 out of 7 days a week.

PJ said in the New Year service that a New Year is nothing new, if the “You” has nothing changed. This year, i’ve decided to step out and up to do the things i believe in, and fight for them. From my activist mindsets, to my personal issues, i will make a stand, and be counted for. Wisdom, Courage, and definitely Anointing is needed.

Step Out, Step Up;
Let Go, Let God.

Currently, i’ve just changed my caregroup (i know some of ya call it lifegroup, cellgroup, wtevr, its the same) to one of fellow ORD-ing brothers. Yup! A fun experience and fruitful journey to be on; I do hope to get to know many people on a deeper basis this year! Thanks to kennee, bindi, yh, kt, wsheng, davidH, bert, de for being such great and awesome people. :D

And OH YES. How can i how can i how can i forget to talk about Christmas?

My Christmas this year (okay last year) was awesome. The whole period, starting from 22 Dec, was incredibly hectic, but fun for me. :D Tons of meetups, parties, sleepovers. And not forgetting my christmas carol team! Went caroling with church mates from my congregation, and it was a great experience. :D Glad to have served and worked, and sung with everyone. It was a great team, and i hope, somehow that we can do this more, rather than only during the Christmas season – i miss singing in a choir already. Met many great singers, perhaps we could try a lil Easter gig or sth!

Later on was “nineteenhours” team – who did the ricola video thingy. It was a joke, really. The gathering of jerel, karm, fongky, tabs, bri, sid, hammy, and myself was kinda accidental lol. We spent crazee nights fussing over it, and doing the video, which was our amateur first one, obviously. So i’d rather u not see it. Should u see it on the net somehow, just keep it to yourself, and don’t let me know. HAHAHA. will die from embarrassment. We dint get selected in the end, cos they wanted more “show-choirish” stuff, instead of mtv video editing. haha. oh wells, it was a good experience! :D D

Just recently too, I had a random gig for some family day nonsense in my ns unit. So the story goes that we (four of us) were supposed to put up a performance for the people’s entertainment. Then, later on it became background lunch music sorta thing – which we so totally just hacked and went on with what we wanna do. And yup! it was a great fun playing and jamming with aj, yane, and jp. We stayed over at aj’s beautiful house too, and attempted to sleep early for the performance next day, which, only yane succeeded in. Slept for 9.5 hours and still told us he was tired! Hidden Koala. Okayy the real gig itself was actually quite horrible considering the chui-ness of the sound mixer, the lack of EQ’s for sounds etc. We actually sounded better without the sound systems, i have to say. So, lesson learnt, NEVER use the alpine lodges for such events – it’s meant for people to just chill and sit around, drink etc – not set up an acoustic performance. Then again, a certain ministry of a certain legalized monarchy doesn’t learn, or care about how ridiculous it sounds anyway. Still, it was fun to be in a gig again, as retarded as it felt. lol. :D

Well well, not forgetting my soon-to-be stage duty for support vocals. Excited to be serving in the team with so many others as well. :) Let’s pray that my memory for song lyrics will improve drastically by the Grace of God over these 2 weeks – no more mini screens for lyrics. “x

Uni starts this year too! Sounds too exciting and “nervarous” already. I remember having insomnia in one of the first days of the new year over the many changes this year. ORD, uni, new places, new friends, new group in church, etcc!

So much for updates! Will blog again soon.

PS: Big Bang Theory rocks! I’ll be embarking on my entire jdrama, k-drama, anime, manga, uk/us series chasing bit by bit after my computer comes to life. (or when i actually succeed in convincing me mom to get me a new one)

His Grace never ends

love, is over me.

Truths from Church History (The Papacy)

December 15th, 2010 § Leave a Comment

1. The church cannot grow when it become concerned with institutional power and prestige.

2. The church cannot grow when there is immorality in the camp; particularly in church leadership.

3. The church cannot grow when it is controlled by factions who insist on promoting their own special interests.

Who You Are And What They Say (taken from http://chrisguillebeau.com)

If you are confident, they will say you are arrogant.

If you are deliberate, they will say you are too sure of yourself.

If you have a sense of purpose, they will say you are self-absorbed.

If you know who you are, they will ask, “Who are you, anyway?”

If you believe in kindness and compassion, they will say you are naïve.

If you are a dreamer, they will say “join the real world.”

If you are a rebel, they will try to shut you down.

The instructions include:

rein it in
slow it down
wait it out

pull it back
take your time
play it safe

But you will know:

They are envious because they want what you have.

They are afraid of change even as they crave it.

They are projecting their own regret into resentment of you.

It’s not all bad news: some of them will sort themselves out and end up joining you. Because you are a good person and have had plenty of false starts of your own, you’ll understand and welcome them warmly. We’ve missed you! you’ll say. It’s about time you made it.

As for the others, well, you will remember what Gandhi said:

“First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win.”

One Voice ; Una Voce

Yes and yes my very dear friend and aunt Diane has very nicely (and addictive-ly) put up an awesome girls choir on her blog. It did remind me of my times with previous choirs, and also how sucky we were compared to that Hungarian chorale. Oh wells, having caroling soon, though it wont be THAT professional, it’ll at least be something. Might be thinking of joining some other chorale when i have more time though. :D

Anyways, i wanna watch quite a few choirs this season! Not only the school choirs though, there’s such a bigger, wider world out there, whose government ACTUALLY supports the Arts for the nobility of it, not as some nation-building objective. Aha! Who wanna watch with me! ahah.

Some videos:

so wanna sing again, in a full four voices choir. :D
